These are trial version and has no fix yet..... anybody with retail version of this software i have been using Norton Internet Security 2007 original and it's products since 1998 and i just love it... i have used all software like McAfee Total Protection 2007 and panda, pc-cillin 2007 ect after all this i found norton smooth and better then all.........
Try McAfee Total Protection 2008 its much better both in detection and features also it is low on resources It kicked out virus from my PC which Norton didnt even detected Infact I was not aware of that virus untill I scanned my machine with McAfee. I am surprised at that

I found easy trick to upgrade NIS 2007 to NIS 2008
- Now if you installed NIS 2007 on your computer, uninstall in first.
- Download NIS2008 and use 7zip extrack it.
- copy CLTVault.dll from installation files of NIS2007 Retail to NIS2008 Installation (Setup\Setup\App\)and replace it
- Install it.
- when you finished skip creating Norton Account, Now you can see no activation requier and day count start continue from NIS2007
I know is trick like unbelieveable, but it work.
PS.this trick work for people who install NIS2007 on computer only
Not 100% Functional....It helps in istalling but fails when you connect to Internet after installing....

You can try what i did as it works perfectly with product features enabled.
1. Install and uninstall NIS 2007
2. Install NIS 2008 as it is i.e. without any trick
3. When it comes to activation, click activate later
4. Reboot from another source i.e. CD\USB etc
5. Replace CLTVault.dll(version 15.0.0.60) from NIS 2008 with
CLTVault.dll from NIS 2007 retail
6. Start normally
7. Activate NIS 2008 by clicking the next button until a message product error
appear and your NIS 2008 will be automatically activated with NIS 2007
subscription.
8. Try it and good luck.

Actually I don't know why ppl are getting so freaked about not being to get NIS2008 working as NIS2007 is juat as good. There is very little improvment(if any) between nis07 and 08. The antivirus and firewall protection is the same and both these options are the most important imo.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by volpoid on 2007-10-22 00:37:08
uberwolf - Actually that's not true. If have used NIS 2007 & there was a shed load of problems with it, many processes running at same time, problems with updating it etc etc. A load of bloatware (as with most Norton products) The I tried the 15 day trial of NIS 2008, it is much much lighter on resources & far fewer running processes. It seems after a few years in the doldrums, Norton have finally got their finger out with NIS 2008. It is much better than NIS 2007. HAving said that there are much better Internet Security Suites out there - Kaspersky for instance or Zone Alarm or Bitdefender.

I'm afraid at the moment there's no way to get NIS 2008 working for more than 90 days as the OEM version.

hey All, i am indonesian. sorry about my English. this is the answer of why the CLTVault.dll trick Not Work correctly. When you connected to the internet, some programs of NIS 2008 try to connect symantec server to report the genuine product of NIS 2008. Because the CLTVault. dll is from NIS 2007, the programs report an error. After that, the program will not be working anymore.
I have modified this CLTVault trick and Its guaranted Working 100%, But with one condition : You Can not Run Automatic Live Update !!.
if you want to Update your Norton, try Manually. Download from symantec website, then run the Update.

bad news as of today i got a messege from nis2008 telling me i have a invalid product key and wants me to activate and its also now showing license or subscription problem.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by siro07 on 2008-01-12 12:10:29
you may take this trick, everytime you connect to the internet, take the CLTVault from NIS 2008 and replace to C://Program Files/
Norton Internet Security/, After Disconnected, take CLTVault from NIS 2007 to the path above. but i think this trick is not simple.
so i tried to install it to the future date and take the CLTVault.dll file from NIS 2007 for the default. after finish it, I set back the computer date
to normal date. with this trick, the live update program not check the cltvault because the install date is not previous or now
date. Every 24 hour, the program will not broken because the CLTVault.dll file is from NIS 2007.

alright siro07 i have tried this method on windows xp SP2 it gave me 11 years 4015 days. I used year Jan,01,2028 during setup.
1) In the instructions number 12 it says,
"12. check if all of the feature is secure except Protection Update and spyware definition. if Not, do not run next step because it will broken."
1)Do you mean spyware protection instead of spyware definition?
2)Can we turn ON protection updates and spyware protection at the end after we complete all steps? or do we keep them turned off forever?
thank you !
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by siro07 on 2008-01-14 14:22:22
during installation on the future date, spyware definition and protection update is not secure because your virus definition is 23/08/2007. After set back to "Now date" then running Automatic Live Update untill Finish, the spyware definition and protection update will secure. its Automatically. Thanks for your report.

hey Ganja24, i ever get same error too. it seems like work for automatic update but really ,not. Try to update manually (get the last Virus Definition on symantec, download it, then run it). After this, your live update will work correctly. when you run live update again, you never get an error again. Follow this steps, Before you try manually update, run Luall.exe (C://Program Files/Symantec/Live Update/LUALL.exe) and you will see the error is update for Virus Definition. Then Run update Manually that you download from symantec. After that, run LUALL.exe again and check that no error found during update. good luck.

You do not need to do anything...just run the patch file and let it extract. You do not need to change the path.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by SwordOfWar on 2008-01-27 05:12:19
If you have errors with NIS 2008 after patch you need to do this.
1. run the norton removal tool here:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
2. Install NIS 2008 OEM 90 Days
3. Run Safe Mode and use the patch for NIS 2008 XP by siro07
4. Restart and let windows start normal (not safe mode)
that is it.
TIP: When you install NIS 2008, do not change any settings before you use the patch. Wait after you patch and then change any settings you need.

UPDATE:
I tested this on a different computer and it asked to reinstall.
The only thing I can think of that I did different was the date trick.
You will need to disable the internet and change the computer clock to jan 1, 2020 before you install NIS 2008.
After you install the program you should be able to change the clock back and continue with my above instructions.
...I will report more information as I test.

I'd installed NIS08 on my Laptop, with proper instruction :-
1. 1.reg file
2. Change Date to Jan 01, 2020
3. Install NIS08 90Days OEM
4. Restart & enter in Safe Mode
5. Install NIS08_Patch Final by Sir07.rar (5.5 MB Approx)
6. Change the date to current date.
7. Restart.
After that i got 40XX Days Subscription..
(Near about 4000 days)
Then i Manually Update it..
After Updating, n aftr 10 minutes..
it asks me for activation..
then again i repeat the process....
- Go to safe mode
- Change Date
- Apply Patch Again
- Change Date to Current
- Restart
Gone is gone.... now again it says activation remains 4000 Days Subscription..
but my Anti-Spyware is not working..
so i gt Red Cross on NIS08..
after restart it again asking me for Activation...
So i don't think so i hd done any kinda mistake in installation...
so why it asking me every time i restart the machine.... or after update
and why my anti-spyware feature is not working....
Plz. Comment on it & help me out of it...

Got a different between vista and xp. The cache file for xp C://Documents And Settings/All Users/Application Data (hidden Folder)/ and for vista C://ProgramData/ (hidden Folder).
For those who are trying to crack NIS2008, makesure download the latest NIS from website, "no protection for norton product".
For vista user, to avoid error occur in vista, always restart after install or uninstall software.. wait around 5 or 10min before restart. e.g. restarting your pc after install or uninstall NIS2007 or NIS2008. Never direct update your NIS2008 after crack, restart 1st then update. Recheck no "security center" vista tray.
OK..I'm telling again that I'm Vista user &
see how I used all these NIS2008 crack's in last few days they were released on this site.
1. uninstalled NIS07 ver.
2. restart.
3. search for registry entries & remaining
& hidden files, registry entries etc. removed them
& also formated 5 times only for NIS08.
4. restart.
5. Followed all instructions on existing
Installtion & aftr Formating HDD.both type's
Works for few days & DISABLED.
6. I also followed Updated Instructions,
with existing Installtion & after
Formating HDD.
7. Now,I giveup & waitting for actual working crack.
NOW,I'M USING NIS07 WITH 11yrs. CRACK.
& CHECKING THIS SITE DAILY FOR CRACK.
Remove folder manually and don't remove everything(NIS2007) in registry editor. if you do, so that u got an error in subscription from NIS2007 after a few day installing NIS2008.

INFO and CONCLUSION by hehiro0o on 2008-02-05 19:00:43
Installing NIS2008 more faster then NIS2007. so then 50/50 your NIS2008 maybe corrupt or OK if you direct restart. i think NIS2008 still not 100% compatible with vista. Even you are using oem or trial, still got an error. e.g windows security center tray still appear, multiple security problem even NIS 100% secure. I'm already test it before. Please makesure your pc in idle then restart after installing or uninstalling. Take a time, this NIS differential between others software you install. A Installing NIS2008 still corrupt if NIS2007 not fully unstalling and enable back the windows security function. However, NIS2008 is the BEST PROTECTION SOFTWARE then others. It's a FACT!! :-)

thanx hehiro0o for the proper description ..
but with my respect to u.u didn't add anything new to the trick of "ganja24".anyway its totally the same cracking method.the method is 100%working,i have been running that for more than 4 days.i was thinking to replace the original NIS2008 CLTVault.dll in the main installer with the cracked NIS2007 CLTVault.dll directly to the .exe main software installer with the use of 7-ZIP to make it easier,to bypass the copy/past step, for people for just all they have to do is to set their pc date somewhere in the future, recommended the same day activation of CLTVault.dll been done for example 1.Jan.2020" and just install it and return the date to the actual today date. what do u think about it??.i think it can be successful?
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by hehiro0o on 2008-02-05 20:54:33
The different is, the patch before already make an activate 15day trial or 90day oem. that the mistake in vista. you can't do that because got an error after 3 and above day used. it will cause NIS .dll file missing, an error nis popup screen appear because it still reading both activate from trial and subscription nis2007, an activate process again and again appear after update when it reading activate by trial even you already used and got nis2007 subscription.
If nis start install CLTVault.dll, it will used CLTVault.dll about a few minute to determine the correct nis version and the list of network drivers, and activate nis2008 programs function . It is not determine the subscription yet. so then what happen if it determine that the version from NIS2007 here, yes, a corrupt NIS2008 again. The best solution to patch is in a 1st. option, when the 1st. time NIS windows popup appear before activate process.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by hehiro0o on 2008-02-05 21:05:20
That method actually i'm aready try it before. when nis2008 start extract the file, just patch CLTVault.dll 2008 with CLTVault.dll 2007 in "/temp/NIS15.0.0.60/" directory (hidden folder) before it start installing. :-)
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by hehiro0o on 2008-02-05 21:13:59
wana try? patch into this directory /temp/NIS15.0.0.60/setup/setup/app/CLTVault.dll with CLTVault.dll NIS2007. i'm already got a best solution/ 100% working in vista without any error again, don't want to try a fail patch again and again. ah tired. :-)

Hi guys, i'm coming back.
sorry and forget all of my previous patch.
in the previous post, i write manual instruction that can make you get NIS08 Full. its work for max 11 year.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/7w77y3
hi Ganja24, say to all that the instruction is made by me.
I think this instruction is a long way to get NIS 08 Full, cause you have installed NIS07 before you install nis 08.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by siro07 on 2008-02-06 13:45:15
just for hehiro0o, you do not need to wait till 17 day after installing, install nis08 in 17 day before, after you got full version, restart and go to system boot mode, then set your computer date to normal date, if your nis is really working, after computer starting, you should not get an error for your NIS08.
STUPID POST I READ HERE TODAY!! by hehiro0o on 2008-02-06 20:35:14
that means, your patch before are not working?ahaks.. no need new patch. already got 100% working patch. maybe because you do this trick "
install nis08 in 17 day before, after you got full version, restart and go to system boot mode, then set your computer date to normal date, if your nis is really working, after computer starting, you should not get an error for your NIS08."
Can you tell me how do you install nis to the future date jan 1 2020 and then at the same time install it 17day before. that a stupid post i read here now. haha..
Conclusion for other patch. by hehiro0o on 2008-02-06 20:54:21
that patch only make it simple, however still use CLTVault.dll nis2007(626Kb) or using nis2008 function. :-)

hey guys , I did it successfully. i know why u guys couldn't finish the last step . when u reach to step 8 " DO NOT " set back ur comp to mormal day and " DO NOT " restart ur comp.
instead ,you have to connect to the internet and click " RunliveUpdate" . when it processes update, the first 2 will be complete, the last will fail. Now it'll shows the error details .click on the link for more details, and it brings you to the sysmatec website, and there u can download and run the LiveUpDate to complete the update process. now you can you restart ur comp and set back to current day. everything is good now . unforturnately . after 24 hours there will be a license problem. "All Turn Red". you still wanna try to install NIS2008 or u dont: it's your choice. you will waste ur time anyway. oh. one more thing i wanna tell u guys. this is very important, after running "siro07 patches" i couldn't use " Norton remove tool " to remove nis2008 completly , cuz i wanna reinstall NIS 2007, but it always display the error message . Now i have to deal with another problem kakakaka . Anayways ,thanks "siro07 "i know u spend your time more than i do . I really enjoy with ur instruction Siro07 .hope omeday very soon ,u will come up with a better solution for us.

Hi burp61, what you have done is you have wiped the activation out because if you delete the main symantec shared folder it will do this,The removel tool does not delete the ccpd-lc in this folder. You now have to use removel tool again, but do not manually delete anything just let the tool do it, install 07 and activate it, uninstall then install 08, once installed you have to then go into safe mode as you cannot get into options to turn protection off, then put the files in then restart, if it says expired just click the activate button and it will change automatically to what you activated 07 to.Once done it will be fine, hope this helps

Guys i can not see why you are having probs, if you place the original cvrtrust file back in then you will have probs, you got to keep the 07 cvrtrust file in along with the 10.2.0.30 version cltvault. So if you make sure you activate this file first before installing 08, then all updates will download and you will not get any subscription errors.Although you are all waiting for me to sort this phone act out i can not simply just put these into the 08 setup, i will work on another way of doing it so you will not have to install 07 to activate before 08.But just try pasting all these 4 files in and you see that you will not get any errors. If you still are unable to download some updates then this is because they have already downloaded onto your comp but not installed so best way is to use removel tool and start again, but this time make sure you paste all files i mentioned above in after install. If it is expired then you will have to go into safe mode to do this.On restarting just click activate and it will change to your 07 subscription. Then update

Then if you get any updates that still do not install just put the original cltvault and ccvrtrust.dll file back in then update, if will turn back to you need to activate again but when updates are done just simply put the files back in then run update and you will find all updates are done.Strange because i have,nt had any update errors but do this and it will sort it

Hey frnds i know why u r getting disgusted by the continuous installation and uninstallation of norton 2007 and 2008.... Becoz u need to update ur norton every time u install it freshly thus wasting ur download. I have a solution to this for vista users.
Go to C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Definitions\VirusDefs
here u will find some folders with date on them. Copy the folder with the latest date.
And keep it with u.
Each time u uninstall and then install the norton.Copy the folder into the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Definitions\VirusDefs folder and change the follwing registry value :
HKLM/software/symantec/sharedDefs and modify these three registry values.
change the value of AVDEFMGR to the latest folder that u pasted.
Do the same for SRTSP and TrustProcessor values.
And do it in safe mode.

Hey Dazza2963 I think you got problem with " process updates " too allright ? the Item called " White List " can't ever be able to install . when i put back the orginal files (ccVrTrst.dll and cltvault ) in,then restart and run liveupdate , It complteply installed all updates . after that i put the other files (ccVrTrst.dll and cltvault ) from nis2007 back in , and then restarted and run Liveupdate again , it got full updates . I waited for a day after that and clicked Runliveupdate again . this time it failed , like i said in earlier, the Item " White List " was UNable to install . how do you fix this . Thank you for your solution !
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-02-25 04:38:50
The White list has been a bit of a pain to install, although it is not an important update it is just annoying in a way that it does not install. If you want to sort this then just use siro,s patch because it does fix this, But as long as you have activated the cltvault yourself that is in his patch. So you will have the original ccvrtrust file along with the 07 cltvault, when updating it checks the original and updates fine, also you must put the settings file in that is in patch.

For Vista users, sometimes NIS 08 not synchronize automatically with Windows Security Center. So, in systray, the icon Security center will appear. or they will report that Firewall or AV is Off. To fix this, open NIS Option and turn off Firewall and Auto protect for 15 minutes. wait 5 minute then turn on again. this should will clear The icon of security center.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by on 2008-03-02 03:29:43
if you still got the report that Firewall or Auto Protect is turn off, go to security center (Right Click My Computer choose property, then click Security center). Click on firewall, then click turn on. then choose " I have a firewall that i'll monitor myself". do it for Malware protection.

RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-03-07 04:42:32
This will not work simply bacause the cltvault has to be activated on your comp, why dont vista users just download nsw 08 standard edition and then place the cltvault from nis07 into nsw directory after install, then activate it by phone as NSW still has the phone option,This way the 07 cltvault will be activated,Then set date to 2020 and install Nis08 and then place the cltvault into Nis directory.Use the NIS07 KEYGEN to activate. When all done just set time back and restart before running liveupdate.Just install the basic options in Norton System Works as it will give you options to install goback etc, just untick everything apart from the 1 which does not untick.

Have you placed the original ccvrtrust file back in?
In norton internet security directory you should have the 07 cltvault
In The commonfiles/symantecshared directory you should have the original 08 ccvrtrust file in
Providing you have placed the settings in and got the right files in place you should update this with no probs.
Let me know how you get on

RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-03-08 09:10:59
This is because the settings were not in right place. You have not got to uninstall 08 everytime u get an error, just replace the settings dat file again and it will be ok again
Have you placed all the other files in their right places?
If so you must put the settings dat file in the right place then try again.

RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by xxxhoangbuixxx on 2008-03-08 10:03:07
this was what i did .
after installing NIS 2008 i put the ( ccL60.dll, ccL60U.dll ) from NIS2007 in Program Files/ Common Files/ Symantect shared directory .
- and then placed the (CLTVault.dll )into Program Files/ Norton Internet Security directory .
- last one was settings.dat file , i put it in
Program File/ symantect . ( nothing to overwrite )
I dont replace the orginal(ccVrTrst.dll) because you said that " it should go along with CLTVault.dll nis 2007 "
Under vista , i don't see any common client folder . instead . i see
-Program Files/ symantect/ Liveupdate folder .
can i ask you a question ?
are u using Windows Vista ? if so ,again plz tell me how do you get to (common client ) folder more specificly .
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-03-08 10:37:25
No i am not using vista but my mate is, in xp the symantec folder is hidden so i dont know whether in vista you have an option to show hidden files like you do in xp.If you do then show them and then you will find it
Can you find the program data folder ok?
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-03-08 10:43:46
Also if you are using the original ccvrtrust file you do not need the 2 07 ( ccL60.dll, ccL60U.dll )files as these are only needed with the 07 ccvrtrust file so just delete them
So if you find the common client folder and put settings in then you will be done.

But why do you want 4015 days anyway cause 2009 will be out soon and 08 will be outdated by the time that comes to an end lol

2. INSTALL 08 AGAIN, ONCE INSTALLED GO INTO SAFE MODE AND RUN MY PATCH

To,
dazza2963,
Hello,
Yes, I cann't install NIS07 on Vista due to compatibility problem. I just had a question about your step & need help.
You mean copy "CLTVault.dll" from "Norton Internet Security 2007 setup Directory" & paste it into "Norton System Works 2008 setup Directory", & after that install "Norton System Works 2008" & so on... RIGHT.. I just want to avoid re-installations...
As you write in your post that:
"If you can not install 07 then install 08 norton system works and place the 07 cltvault from internet security into system works directory after you have installed system works (basic install) and then activate it using the phone option with the 07 internet security keygen."
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-03-13 17:49:20
Yes you must place the 07 cltvault in after system works install, do not place it in the set up and then install, it must be after its installed
You will have to go into options and uncheck the turn on protection to paste this file in
Then once pasted in activate it using 07 internet security keygen.
Then uninstall and then install 08 NIS
when installed just run my patch

Grizzmo, I can help you with the Norton Removal expired problem. Its really easy. Open regedit and search the whole registry for SymNRT and remove all instances found. Run the tool again and it will work no problem. Happened to me lots of times over the past few days and this resolves it for me every time. @RisKid,
Uninstalled NIS2007 via add and remove, then uninstalled live update also via add and remove.
Restarted and installed NIS2008.
Didn't update, got to safe mode and replaced settings.DAT and CLTVault.dll from your package.
Then did 2 updates and am now scanning with 4015 day's on the counter.
Only thing, I didn't use the green patch so my subscription days is in black.

Why not share what everyone of us know about NIS, I mean for example that what each file does so anyone can come up with an idea how to get around subscription!
Another example is to share what we know about the crack of NIS07!
We can figure this softwear out by cooperation.

Yes the way you did it should be fine, the patch is ok for people who do not want to put their clocks foward and risk any trials on their comps running out if you get what i mean, If the way you did it does happen to fail then all you need in patch is the settings dat file and the cltvault.dll.You have not got to uninstall if you get an error just replace these 2 files and all will be ok

Uninstall it and install the 2007 version then copy its cltvault.dll. Then uninstall it, and install the trial again and copy this dll in it in safe mode? Am I right?
Thx for helping me! Best regards: Irdeto

Grizzmo I dont think you need to panic. My subscription days were black for over a year on Nis07 and they were when I first applied dazzas 3 patch files once I installed 08. Im sure the colour is just purely aesthetic - someone asked further up if it was possible to put the subscription days in green colour because he didnt want black and someone wrote a patch to change the colour and Im sure thats all it does, just changes the colour and thats it - doesnt affect expiry of subscription at all as far as I understand it
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by dazza2963 on 2008-03-21 05:06:18
I ONLY MADE THIS GREEN PATCH BECAUSE SOMEONE WANTED IT IN GREEN, SO DO NOT WORRY IF IT IS IN BLACK AS THIS IS THE STANDARD COLOUR ONCE GONE OVER 365 DAYS, IF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION SAYS 4013 DAYS LEFT THEN IT IS NOT GOING TO RUN OUT IN 15 DAYS.

According to the last situation there are some other dependencies for activation other than CLTVault.dll for subscription.
I have a couple of question:
1) Does anybody know what is stored within "CLTVault.dll"? I know that .DLL extension is someway misleading, since the file only stores data! If anyone at least knows the parts that are inside of this mysterious file, please share it with us :D
2)What does "ccVrTrst.dll" file does in NIS 2008? Does it check the other files including CLTVault.dll, and indicates whether the correct version?!

No matter how it was done, the prod.key saved by NIS at the end was always the same. Even if the CLTVault of NIS07 (2yr) is used for NIS08.
Maybe because it uses a hardwarecode based on your computer to generate the final code?
btw does anyone on this forum also having troubles to access this page?
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by RisKid on 2008-03-23 04:50:45
@grizzmo
Question is: which hardwarecode?! The only way a different NIS code is generated at the end is when Windows XP is reinstalled.
Seems like the key saved by NIS is using Windows XP to generate it.
BTW Accessing this page usually goes very slow, and some pop-ups are blocked by IE. Also sometimes for a while you're being
redirected to another 9down page.

SYMANTEC HAVE COMPLETELY REMOVED PHONE ACTIVATION FROM 08
The cltvault only makes the phone option appear when you have 15 days trial in 07, once activated the only way to get the phone option again is by using the 360 keygen, but this only works in 07, or if you activate it and as soon as activation box appears go to norton internet directory and temporarily delete the file isbtplg.dll, then when you come to the end you will see that phone option appears, once it appears restore the file back again. But this does not work in 08
In 08 there are many files and reg entries missing to make this work, I had it working once but then a liveupdate destroyed it so i am working on it again and will post it on here as soon as i have sorted it.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by RisKid on 2008-03-23 09:19:34
@dazza
Applying the activated CLTVault (2yr) to a NIS07 trial WITHOUT phone activation tranfered the subscription without a prob.
The CLTVault (2yr) 07 must replaced before installing the non phone activation trial of 07. Works even if it's a non-english language 07.
Having 07 (2yr) removed, running some regcleaners & manually removing all 07 (2yr) leftovers, then adding the CLTVault (2yr) to
07 WITHOUT phone-activation BEFORE installing: phone-activation possible (no key asked while installing).
After having installed different versions of 07 & 08 more then 10 times the past 3 weeks, the 360 keygen was never needed to enable
phone activation for 07 without the phone activation. But I'm happy with your suggestion, it could be needed once.
BTW Can u tell which of the 4 patches is affecting the language? (When applied to a non-english 08 most settings [green or red]
are displayed in english and not the own language)
And do u know if the 08 add-on pack can be installed without cozing probs if the future install is used 4 08?

About affecting the language of NIS: obviously it's NOT the CLTVault which does that. Replacing the CLTVault of 07 (english + phone-activation) to 07 setup-folder (non-english WITHOUT phone activation) it doesn't affect the language & also enables phone-activation.

@dazza (about the language mixed up in 08)
Too bad I can't tell anymore in which order they were replaced. I rememeber that 08 (non-english) wasn't activated properly
and got disabled after about 30 hrs. Trying 2 solve the prob first all 3 files were added (CLTVault, Settings and CCVRTRST).
Having done so things seems ok, but 1 option in 08 couldn't b enabled: Protect NIS Products (displayed in grey). Then the separate
UICntnr (= Green) was also added, but didn't resolve the prob. At last from 07 (english) the ccL60.dll, ccL60U.dll & ccVrTrst.dll
were added 2 08 (non-english), though they were only mentioned in 1 of your first message's here. Of course nothing was resolved.
However, it was at the end when I noticed the language in 08 got mixed up (could've been earlier). Except the fact that the option
"Protect NIS Products" couldn't be enabled, other things seems 2 b ok.
For now 08 still running smooth the first week, having done the future install.
2 Questions:
a- Anyone knows/tried if 08 can be easily reinstalled using the future activated CLTVault of 07 (on which 08 is running now)?
In 07 it was working when replaced in the setup directory.
b- Anyone knows if there's a keygen for NIS06?
Cheers & thnx

I earlier also replaced an earlier patch: ccL60.dll} {ccL60U.dll} and [ccVrTrst.dll} and also got the missing files message. So i deleted everything from symantec and did:
Uninstalled NIS2007 via add and remove, then uninstalled live update also via add and remove. Also you can use norton removal tool.
Restarted and installed NIS2008( The download from this page).
Didn't update, got to safe mode and replaced settings.DAT and CLTVault.dll from the package into the right folders/subfolders.
Did you also used the NIS2008 from this site?

Just to let you know my norton 08 is still working fine after 4 weeks now, so just wanted to say, Cheers and what a great job you did in cracking this.
Need your help! Dear dazza2963 and xxxhoangbuixxx by cmkf on 2008-04-07 11:27:44
More info: I cannot access the www.sendspace.com, I don't know why, so I cannot get the files/instruction from you.
Try taking the CLTVault file from the setup of the version with phone activation and replacing the CLTVault file in the setup of the version without the phone activation. You must do all this prior to installing. Give that a try.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by RisKid on 2008-04-08 00:44:31
I think dazza is working on the keygen and hasn't been here for a while. Most answers you can find here also.
To enable phone activation you can try this: copy (replace) the CTLVault.dll of the 07 setup dir with phone activation to the setup dir
of 07 withouth phone activation and then install 07. That will enable the phone activation.
You can also tranfer the license 0f an activated 07 by copying the CTLVault in the installation folder to the
setup folder of 07 without phone activation and then install 07. That will tranfer the license.
PS If you can't extract 07 run it and cancel installation when questions appear. 07 is now extracted in the temp dir.
BTW Anyone knows a good ip hiding app.? Thx.

@dazza, siro07, ganja24 & anyone else who knows,
Is there a short way to re-install 08 when having used the siro07 install,
and is it necessary to wait a whole day after finishing the install?
I wonder if re-install would work by saving & then using the current activated
files of 08 install dir (same 4 files as dazza's patches).
I'll need to re-install anyhow, so if by then there's no answer I'll
post the result here, for those who are interested.
Gracias

Hi Gracias,
Maybe you misunderstand the comments of siro07, it isn't necessary to wait a whole. When the installation finished, it works fine.
And, I think that copy only 4 files does not works. NIS maybe store some information in HardDisk or registry.

Thx 4 the info. But the last comment of siro07 on 2008-03-02 02:45:39 says:
16.wait for 1 day, and check that your subscription is 4014 day.
17.Done. you get NIS 2008 Full
Maybe I missed some info of siro07 about waiting 1 day? Just to make sure:
the siro07 info is NOT using the patches. So I'm talking about (re)-installing
08 without the patches.
Thx

NIS 2008 (with newest Virus definitions) will delete/remove the EDGE tools, it said this tools is a hacktool/virus.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by RisKid on 2008-04-25 08:01:36

NIS05 already didn't like the EDGE kg for NIS07. That's means: only the EDGE NIS07 v10.2 kg.
There's another exact same EDGE kg for NIS07 v10 which Norton won't recognize as being a hacktool/virus.
(AVG AV Pro doesn't like the EDGE NIS07 v10.2 either.)
Seems to me the warnings for the EDGE kg for NIS07 v10.2 is a false positive.
BTW Both EDGE's keygens can be used for both NIS07 v10 or v10.2.
(I believe there's even a third EDGE kg which only says NIS 2007.)

1 question: of the 4 patches the setings.dat is affecting the language in non-english 08 versions.
Things seems to work fine however, but the general settings (red or green letters) will be displayed
in english when patches are used for non-english 08 versions.
Is there a way to use the patches for 08 versions WITHOUT affecting the language?

siro7's method works perfectly on Win XP SP2, however you must have "protect norton product" turned off. I think if you enable protection for norton it will replace the CTLVault file and you will have to put the 2007 version back again. Here are the instructions:
This Trick fully working for both windows Vista or windows XP SP2.
And work for all version of NIS 2008.
Please Note : Do Not Connected to the internet during installation!.
1. Uninstall all previous nis program include Live Update program.
check in add or remove program so that you really unistall it.
2. Set your computer date to 01/01/2020
(Warning : if you have another trial programs install on your comp, it will expired.)
3. Install NIS 2007 and use the keygen from "The EDGE" with 11 years subscription.
4. After Finish, you should get 4015 day subscription.
5. take CLTVault.dll File from C:/Program Files/Norton Internet Security/ to desktop.
6. install NIS 2008, during installation norton will required to restart, restart comp.
After restart, NIS 2008 will automatically install again, wait until finalizing. when finalizing step,
choose next, activate later, and then No ,you should get 15 day trial subscription.
7. Open NIS program, click Norton Internet Security Tab, then Click tab Option>Norton Internet Security.
On the general option, uncheck "turn on protection for norton product"
8. take CLTVault.dll file in desktop that you copied before, and replace it to
C://Program Files/Norton Internet Security/
9. click the help & Support tab then run activation.click next, next, ok, cancel, skip.
wait a second untill you get 4015 day subscription.
10.Set your computer date back to actual date. then restart your computer.
11.now check on the NIS program, you should 4015 day subscription with all feature is enable.
12.connect to the internet, then run live update untill finish. check if all files can be downloaded.
13.wait for 1 day, and check that your subscription is 4014 day.
14.Done. you get NIS 2008 Full
For Vista users, sometimes NIS 08 not synchronize automatically with Windows Security Center. So, in systray,
the icon Security center will appear. or they will report that Firewall or AV is Off. To fix this, open NIS Option
and turn off Firewall and Auto protect for 15 minutes. wait 5 minute then turn on again. this should will clear
The icon of security center.
if you still got the report that Firewall or Auto Protect is turn off, go to security center
(Right Click My Computer, choose property, then click Security center). Click on firewall, then click turn on.
then choose " I have a firewall that i'll monitor myself". do it for Malware protection too.
Enjoy
--siro07--
If you get 0 days subscription after you install Norton Internet Security 2007 with the keygen instead of the 4015 days it is because you need to delete a few keys in the registry that is blocking the keygen. To remove them you must go to START > Run > type regedit.exe and hit ENTER. Once you open the program you need to delete the following keys (and mabe all other "SYMC." keys if you want to be sure to get it):
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SYMC.ElevationHelper
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SYMC.ElevationHelper.1

The option "Turn on protection for Norton-products" should & can be enabled when using siro07's manual.
For if it's ok with siro07, for all of you here a short version of siro07's 100% working manual:
Before installing NIS08 DISCONNECT internet! If NIS07 is installed it should be removed completely.
Run the Norton Removal Tool and remove all NIS07 left-overs manually.
01- Set the pc to a future date, as example: --/--/20--. (NOTE: installed trial-programs will expire.)
02- Install NIS07 and activate it by using the EDGE-keygen. Do NOT activate NIS07 for more years then the
the pc has been forwarded!
03- When finished copy and save the CLTVault.dll from C:/Program Files/Norton Internet Security/
04- Unistall NIS07, and install NIS08. At the last step choose: Next, Activate later, and then No.
The 15/90 days trial subscription will be active.
05- Start NIS08, go to NIS Options and at "General options" disable "Turn on protection for Norton-products".
06- Copy the earlier saved CLTVault.dll from NIS 2007 into C:/Program Files/Norton Internet Security/
07- In NIS08 run Activation and click Next, Next, OK, Cancel, Skip. The chosen subscription will be activated.
08- Set the pc date back to the actual date and restart the pc.
09- Start NIS08, go to NIS Options and at "General options" enable "Turn on protection for Norton-products".
Done! NIS08 should have the chosen subscription with all feature's available.

No new trick or crack has been submitted...in last few days...
All cracking method's are only for XP user's, coz NIS or NAV 2007 isn't compatible with any version of VISTA...
So bye bye to NIS 2008... NIS 2009 will be toughest one to crack...
ON EVERY TORRENT & CRACKING WEB SITE, THERE ARE siro07 & Dazz CRACKING METHOD'S ARE PUBLISHED BY THEM OR SOMEONE ELSE...

NOTE:
I HAVE TRIED EACH & EVERY METHOD AVAILABLE ON 9down.com MORE THAN 5 TIMES EACH ON VISTA...
WORK'S FOR FEW DAY'S OR FEW WEEK'S... ONLINE UPDATE CREATES PROBLEM...
MANUAL UPDATE IS BETTER FOR THOSE TRICKS FOR BOTH XP & VISTA...

Too bad it didn't work for you, cuase siro07's manual and/or the dazza-patch works for most people.
Maybe this would help: try siro07's manual and run the update only manual (turn off the auto-update).
Wheather you use siro07's manual or the patches: update only manually (by NIS itself) and turn off auto-update.
Do u have XP or Vista? And what does your friend have which successfully installed NIS08?
BTW NIS07 V10.2.0.30 is compatible with Vista!

I don't think so. In all my tests norton will deactivate with siro07's method when you enable protection for norton products AND have liveupdate on automatic.
The ONLY way to use liveupdate on automatic and keep NIS08 activted is to disable protection for itself because if you enable that protection it will update the CTLVault.dll file and you will lose the subscription.
RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by SwordOfWar on 2008-07-16 08:24:48
Trust me. I have tried all these methods and it is impossible to use NIS08 with automatic updates when the "enable protection for Norton products" is turned on.
If you turn that option on then you must update manually. Manual updates suck! updated subscriptions are important and what happens if you get a virus before you remember to update NIS08?

RE:Norton Internet Security 2008 (15.0.0.60) Final by shellcodes on 2008-08-27 00:29:06
li*ks to keygen for NAV/NIS 2008 and Norton 360 v2:
1: 134976340/N_360v2_IS_AV.zip.html
2: 463717
Now prepend: r*a*p*i*d*s*h*a*r*e*.*c*o*m*/*f*i*l*e*s*/* to link #1
or prepend: M*e*g*a*S*h*a*r*e*.*c*o*m*/* to link #2
And don't forget to remove those '*' from either link :P Steps to activate them can be found in NIS 2008 (15.5) or 360 v2 9down link. Just scroll to the bottom of the page to see my posts, Enjoy.
